・What is your topic?
death penalty ( in Japan)
・What is your thesis (roughly stated) and what are the main points that support it?
Thesis: Death penalty should be abolished in Japan because it caused some ethical issues.
・False charge (Is he/she a true criminal?)
・Guilt (A criminal doesn't feel guilty any more if he/she dies)
・Standard ( it's unclear. If a criminal kills 3 people, death penalty is adopted.
Why 3?)
・The right of executioner (He/She would feel guilty to kill a criminal)
・Feeling of survivor(Does it becomes good?)
・Why did you choose your topic?
In assignment 1, I chose abortion as the most important bioethic issue. However, death penalty relates to a lot of problem as I wrote above, so I want to know more about this issue and think about it.
Hi, this is your teacher, Chris Hoskins.
返信削除I like your thesis, but we should include specific mention of the reasons in the thesis statement.
The death penalty should be abolished in Japan because it can cause several serious ethical issues, including the possibilities of executing falsely charged people, removing guilt from the condemned person, unclear standards for when execution should be used, guilty feelings within executioners, and the lack of satisfaction for victims' families.
You can use this version of your thesis in both your outline and essay, but you may want to choose to write about only three of the five reasons given. Think about choosing the best three reasons and cutting two.
Thanks!
